Quote of the Month: August 2016

I had some ideas for this edition of LUA’s quote of the month, but I found this randomly and it is so fitting and so powerful. Ayn was a minarchist, but her contributions to freedom are nothing short of miraculous. That, and her philosophy of Objectivism has much to offer in the intellectual realm. Please enjoy this quote, and take a moment to think about it; I surely hope it hits home with you, as it did with me.

You seek escape from pain. We seek the achievement of happiness. You exist for the sake of avoiding punishment. We exist for the sake of earning rewards. Threats will not make us function; fear is not our incentive. It is not death that we wish to avoid, but life that we wish to live.”

-Ayn Rand
